The purpose of this article is to present the history of the ten-year activity of the Spatial Management Scientific Circle (KNGP) and the nationwide scientific conference “10 Challenges of Spatial Management” organized as part of the anniversary celebration. The Spatial Management Scientific Circle was established in 2007 at the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography of Warsaw University of Technology. It brings together students and graduates of the Spatial Economy Department at Warsaw University of Technology.

The economic development of the capital results in its spatial development. The nature of this development is not correct, as a zone of agglomeration without planned urbanization extends on its periphery and beyond its borders. The growth of the agglomeration without a common plan poses a threat to the identity of the small cities embedded in it. The next big threat is the underdevelopment of rail-based integrated public transportation that binds Warsaw and the agglomeration together, especially in its southern part.

This article presents a demographic forecast, abbreviated for publication purposes, which was prepared in the spring of 2016 for the Office of the Municipality of Konstancin-Jeziorna, in connection with the entry into force of the amendment to the Law on Spatial Planning and Development [2003, amended in 2016]. The amendment consisted of the introduction of provisions requiring municipalities to draw up land balances in local plans, taking into account the actual demand for housing.

The purpose of this article is to present the conditions and previous efforts to determine the location of the 400 kV Kozienice-Ołtarzew extra-high voltage transmission line, which is an important element of the Warsaw power ring and contributes to increasing the reliability of electricity supply to the Warsaw agglomeration and a large part of Mazovia.

The construction of sanitary sewer systems in municipalities is increasingly challenging for them due to the high cost of their construction and the increasing scope of other new infrastructure investments financed by local governments. In place of collective systems, construction of individual treatment plants has begun for several years, of which, for example, about 200,000 were constructed in Poland in 2015. In the constructed treatment plants, in many cases, it was not possible to control the quality of treated wastewater due to the technologies used.

This year marks ten years since the publication of the first issue of the journal MAZOWSZE Regional Studies. However, the history of the magazine began a few years earlier. In 2005, during the First Mazovian Forum, I pointed out the need for cooperation between the Mazovian regional government and the scientific community.

The YouInHerit project has been implemented since June 2016 as part of the Interreg Central Europe program. The local government of the Mazovian Voivodeship, represented by the Mazovian Regional Planning Office, participates as a partner responsible for coordinating the thematic package. The project focuses on the issue of cultural heritage management in adaptation to new market requirements.

The purpose of this article is to define the terms tourism product and network tourism product and to outline the history of their creation and commercialization in Mazovia, along with proposals for new products in peripheral areas of Mazovia. The article presents selected aspects of the internationalization of Polish law in the area of local self-government after 1989. The scope of the subject is very wide, thus the author decided to choose the determinants which have directly influenced the present functioning of local self-government in the Republic of Poland. The aim of the study is to present the role of Polish international obligations in the shaping of the legislative process, and to show the significance of these commitments in the present self-government system in Poland.
